Voco Orchard Singapore promises first-class hospitality and excellent cuisine

If you’ve been to Orchard Road recently, you’ve noticed that the former Hilton Singapore Orchard is now called Voco Orchard Singapore.

Led by one of the world’s largest hotel companies, IHG Hotels & Resorts, the property now joins the bustling shopping district with a rather different proposition, where charming, non-stuffy and playful vibes take center stage to create a stay that you will remember for a while. .

And yes, the building may have been under Hilton for half a decade, but Voco Orchard Singapore managed to refresh the entire property with its bright colors, warm hospitality and thoughtful touches.

Rooms

The brand new hotel has 423 rooms in total, all of which have been refreshed with many modern touches and amenities. Enter the room and you’ll be greeted by warm interior finishes and minimalist-chic décor – the perfect setting for a relaxing vacation free of office clutter and stress.

The well-appointed Deluxe King Bed is a relatively spacious 32 square meter room that offers floor-to-ceiling windows, which translates to picturesque city views and plenty of natural light.

A plush king bed covered in soft linens (made from 100% recycled materials, no less) sits at the center of it all, flanked by two marble side tables and USB charging ports, and accompanied by a vast 55 inch smart TV. Other material comforts include a corner desk for whenever work calls, and a coffee machine for whenever caffeine cravings strike.

The restrooms are admittedly a little less modern, and that may be because they haven’t yet been renovated from their former days as the Hilton Orchard. Still, it’s fairly well laid out, with a sizable shower area and Apothecary toiletries to use. The organic, plant-based skincare company from Brooklyn, New York, has been introduced to Singapore for the first time in the hotel, and instead of being in miniatures, it’s dispensed via full-sized bottles in an effort to be more sustainable.

To eat

As a destination to stay, Voco Orchard Singapore ticks all the boxes, especially if you’re always hungry like us. The property includes four restaurants and bars – Opus Bar & Grill, D9 Cakery, il Cielo, and Iggy’s – which are already well recognized in Singapore’s established dining scene.

Opus Bar & Grill, for example, is a great choice for a memorable evening with lots of good food. Here, premium steaks and sustainable seafood take pride of place, with every quality cut and fresh catch masterfully embraced by an open-flame charcoal grill for delicious smoke and plenty of flavor. We recommend ending the evening with some of its signature cocktails. The Spicy Martini, for example, is an exotic passion fruit-centric concoction that’s made with padi chili-infused gin — expect a little heat with this one.

The service here is equally commendable; the staff are extremely accommodating to any dining restrictions you may have and go out of their way to ensure you have a wonderful evening. If you can’t decide what to order, talk to the very service-savvy restaurant manager, or just choose the Wagyu & Lobster to share for the best of both worlds. We promise you won’t leave disappointed.
