Taiwan representative office in Provence commemorates its 1st anniversary | Taiwan News
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Taiwanese Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the French region of Provence hosted a reception on Saturday, November 20 celebrating its first anniversary, in the presence of more than 100 guests.
The event was held in the largest and most famous art venue in Provence, the Hôtel de Caumont, which is currently exhibiting an exhibition of Venetian Renaissance art titled “Treasures of Venice. “
Many officials from the south of France were invited, including the deputy mayor of Provence Jean-François Dubost, the honorary consul of Lithuania in Marseille Jacques Gobert and the former EU envoy to Taiwan Guy Ledoux.
TECO-Provence Director General Hsin Chi-chih (è¾ ç¹¼ å¿) said that the creation of the office symbolizes the commitment of Taiwan and France to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation, the common values ââof freedom and democracy, and their love for culture.
As to why he chose to collaborate with a museum, Hsin said TECO events don’t necessarily have to be limited to Taiwan-centric exhibitions. In a culturally rich country like France, it is necessary to break with tradition and be more open to novelty, he said.
