Marriott International Appoints Ranju Alex as Regional Vice President, South Asia

Marriott International Inc has promoted Ranju Alex to Regional Vice President for the South Asia region. She succeeds Neeraj Govil who moved to Singapore after being appointed senior vice president of operations for Asia-Pacific (excluding China) last year. As a key member of Marriott International’s leadership think tank, Alex will be based in Mumbai and oversee the company’s operations in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. She will be responsible for creating and executing a strategic roadmap that will focus on establishing brand positioning and effectively expanding market share for the Marriott portfolio in South Asia. Prior to this appointment, Alex served as Vice President of Market for Western India.
Market Vice President Gaurav Singh, based in Bengaluru, will oversee South and East India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Marriott has also appointed Arun Kumar as vice president of the market overseeing North India, Nepal and Bhutan. Kumar will be based in Gurgaon.

With over 28 years of hospitality experience, Alex is a 12-year veteran of Marriott International. An alumnus of IHM Kolkata, she started her hospitality career with the Oberoi Hotel Group. Alex joined Marriott International in 2010 as General Manager of Courtyard by Marriott Pune Hinjewadi, she later joined Goa Marriott Resort & Spa as General Manager in 2013. Her hands-on leadership style, laser focus on business results and her ability to lead various teams, she was promoted to leadership positions overseeing East India, Bhutan and Bangladesh. In 2019, she was promoted to Vice President of South India and Sri Lanka Market.
