Intercontinental Buckhead, a Southern Luxury Beacon, Announces Phased Renovation

Buckhead’s leading luxury hotel unveils the first phase of extensive renovations with the full transformation set to be completed in late summer 2022.

The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta is undergoing a comprehensive renovation that is expected to be fully completed in the summer of 2022. The property-wide transformation of this premier luxury hotel will be completed in two phases, the first stage being unveiled this month and including the notable opening of Americano, led by celebrity chef Scott Conant, design updates to the hotel’s lobby lounge, new breakfast cafe and upgrades to over 31,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

As the first major renovation since the hotel’s inception in November 2004, and on the heels of the brand’s 75th anniversary, the complete overhaul will usher in a new chapter of luxury by enhancing the experience of InterContinental hotel guests while maintaining the warm and southern hospitality of the property. . Chicago-based KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group was tasked with redesigning the hotel’s interior spaces, including the lobby, check-in area, main lobby, meeting spaces, Club Lounge and guest rooms and sequels. The concept was heavily based on the mainstays of Atlanta’s southern roots – the state symbols of the peach, the bee, and the Cherokee rose. Lisa Simeone, director of KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group, sums up the overall design as being “traditional with a twist – the twist being Niki Zarrabi’s custom artwork throughout.”

The first phase of the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta’s complete renovation includes:

The American – Open May 23, the hotel will now host The Americano, an upcoming Italian-American culinary hotspot headed by two-time James Beard Award winner and restaurateur Chef Scott Conant. Combining a European style of highly personalized service with contemporary Italian-inspired cuisine, Americano offers a refined yet approachable menu that caters to all tastes – from fine steaks and house pastas to organic salads, Italian antipasti and seafood. Mediterranean sea. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a bespoke cafe for coffee, handmade pastries and other delicious morning treats. Complementing Conant’s creative culinary vision, The Americano will host a diverse selection of cocktails with a wine list featuring 200 selections from Italy and the United States, including iconic labels and exclusive, chef-selected producers. The restaurant’s atmosphere is elegant and warm, with modern art, sculptures and mood lighting. Inside, the spacious dining area features butcher block tables and crescent-shaped booths, while the large outdoor deck features wicker chairs with thick cushions and stone tables. For guests looking for a more intimate dining experience, a private dining room is available upon request. With Atlanta being a hotspot for deep culture and culinary exploration, The Americano fits right in, adding even more flavor to the city’s famous food scene.

Lobby Lounge – The stunning and sophisticated design of the hotel creates an idyllic scene from the moment travelers enter the lobby. The newly renovated grand lobby on the ground floor features signature pink marble floors, dazzling light fixtures and natural light from the private outdoor garden. Large-scale abstract paintings by local mixed-media artist Niki Zarrabi adorn the walls and form the focal point of the space. A Breakfast coffee, located just off the lobby, offers guests freshly baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and classic hot dishes prepared by Chef Scott Conant and the Americano’s culinary team. For those on the go, the property now also offers on-the-go selections — from champagne to snacks and chef-prepared treats.

Weddings, meetings and events – The hotel features over 31,000 square feet of premier event, meeting, conference and banquet space. Accommodating up to 1,100 guests, the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta offers indoor and outdoor event space, high-speed Wi-Fi, professional catering, sophisticated decor and more. Guests can choose from four unique meeting rooms and two extravagant ballrooms with seamless access to lush Windsor Garden. Multiple bespoke meeting and event spaces to choose from, coupled with unparalleled service, are what set the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta apart for all celebratory and business needs.

When designing the ballrooms and meeting spaces, KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group incorporated the themes of elegance, culture and serenity. Gray textured bird of paradise wallpaper accentuates the pre-operation space, complemented by brass lanterns, large mirrors, and custom floral displays that serve as additional decor pieces. Drawing inspiration from the region’s southern roots and the state symbol of the bee, these public spaces offer a sophisticated aesthetic with poetic purple wallcoverings and custom carpeting featuring a pattern that mimics the flight of a bee.

The second phase of this property transformation will bring the opening of a renowned spa concept, stylish updates to the 422 Signature guest rooms and suites, and other public areas of the property, including the iconic Windsor Gardens and the saltwater swimming pool, and finally, the exclusive 21st – Lounge Club on the ground floor. This phase and additional details are expected to be completed by late summer 2022.
