Hotels under growing pressure to become more sustainable, tech-driven and profitable

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Farnek, a leading smart and green facility management company based in the United Arab Emirates, will participate as a sustainability partner in this year’s hospitality show, which opens on Tuesday 24 May at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Farnek, which recently launched a dedicated stand-alone hotel management company called “Trendz”, offers a unique 360-degree service for hotel owners and operating companies with a focus on sustainability, technology and l outsourcing, three of the most important trends in the hospitality industry today.

In terms of technology, Farnek has developed an in-house application called “Flexi-Guest”, which digitizes the guest journey from pre-arrival to departure. The app interfaces with a hotel’s property management system (PMS), offering guests a range of services from uploading travel documents, such as vaccination certificates, ordering a car to arrival, room service and laundry. The hotel app can also send automated e-mail updates and alerts to the guest, as well as e-check-in documents, e-bills, and e-receipts, all in one convenient space.
Sustainability is another key issue for hotels. Speaking at the Hotel Show, at a conference titled Sustainable purchases – a 360° overview of ESG-compliant purchasingNadia Ibrahim, Associate Director of Consulting and Sustainability at Farnek, will share her thoughts with industry professionals on the adoption of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) standards in the sourcing process and on how they can be integrated into a hotel’s supply chain. process, as well as working with suppliers to reduce negative environmental and social impacts to the business through responsible sourcing.
“With the UAE’s strategy to become Net Zero by 2050, it is essential that hotels consider the impact of their operations on the environment and put in place a strategic roadmap to reduce their emissions. The UAE government cannot achieve its sustainability goals without the support of the private sector,” said Ibrahim.
Hotel owners and operators will also need to implement strategic plans to launch large-scale renovation and energy efficiency projects, where sustainable design and energy efficient performance will be of paramount importance.
Integrating with Building Management Systems (BMS), Farnek’s HITEK digital solution is fully equipped to identify, design, deliver and finance energy reduction for and on behalf of building owners, creating buildings that are more profitable and a cleaner environment.
