ATLANTA, Ga. (WGCL) – Atlanta Police are investigating a series of thefts and thefts inside a downtown hotel. Some of the crimes happened while guests say they were asleep.

“I am a victim here! Shanice Roberts said.

Roberts said earlier this month that she stepped out to celebrate her sister’s birthday in Atlanta. When they got back to their hotel room at the Crowne Plaza downtown, they went to bed. But in the morning, she realized that her bag was not in her room.

“I had clothes here. I had passports here, me and my son’s passports. I had jewelry in there. I had my pocket money in there, my ID, my work card, my credit card and my debit card, ”Roberts said.

Roberts said she confronted hotel security. Staff later said they found her bag in another hotel room, but the items were still missing.

” I am still shocked ; I am still shocked. I just can’t believe it, ”said Roberts.

Roberts isn’t the only one who says she had some hotel stuff stolen. Atlanta Police have released five recent reports of various incidents of theft and theft. A hotel guest told police he woke up to a man with no shirt and no mask. This man ran away, but the guest realized his credit cards were missing.

For Roberts, not knowing how it all happened still leaves her in fear.

“I can’t even sleep here, and it’s not even a hotel room, it’s my house, and I’m still scared,” Roberts said.

A spokesperson for IHG Hotels & Resorts issued a statement to CBS46 News in response to the report:

The safety and well-being of guests and colleagues at IHG hotels is always our top priority, and IHG requires hotels to implement numerous security protocols. We have been in contact with the independently owned and operated Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown, and understand that the hotel management team is working with local authorities to investigate these incidents. The hotel also has 24 hour security and has added additional patrols to ensure the highest level of security for guests and team members.
