Aussie Pub Gives Free Beer to People Who Get Covid-19 Vaccine

An Australian pub has joined the ranks of businesses and businesses offering an incentive for people to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Vaccine incentives have been all the rage overseas and it’s only just starting to creep into Australia to dramatically increase the number of jabs.

The Prince Alfred Hotel in Port Melbourne will offer free beer to those who can prove they have received one of two approved coronavirus vaccines: Pfizer or AstraZeneca.

Writing on social media, the pub: “Show your little credit card to the bar after your jab and we give you a pint, a wine, a rum and a Coke … whatever you want.”

The pub is conveniently located opposite the Port Melbourne Town Hall Vaccination Center.

Institutional publican Tom Streater hopes the week-long initiative will somehow help spark Australians’ enthusiasm for getting the vaccine.

But, he was honest about another reason behind the move.

He said Sunrise: “Our motivation is really to keep our doors open. The more vaccinations, less COVID and less COVID, less lockdowns. The vast majority of Melburnians and Australians see the benefit of getting vaccinated and keep us all open. ”

Deployment of the vaccine has been catastrophically slow across the country, and Australia has lagged behind other OECD countries.

Everyone has been singled out for not getting better immunization rates, from ordinary citizens waiting for Pfizer to the Prime Minister who has been blamed for not getting more doses.

But the Prince Alfred Hotel isn’t the only entity that has decided to offer something free to get people to see their GPs or attend a mass vaccination center.

Virgin Australia has announced an incentive program to encourage more vaccinations across the country. The airline’s Covid-19 vaccination contest will have a hefty prize of one million Velocity Frequent Flyer points, which is certainly not something to be scoffed at.

A Virgin spokesperson said last month: ‘What we learned from the latest Melbourne lockdown is that the sooner we can all get vaccinated, the sooner we can get our lives back on track, without fear. and the constant uncertainty that comes with lockdowns, restrictions and closed borders.

“To just roll up your sleeve and get yourself vaccinated against Covid-19, you could walk away with a share of tens of thousands of dollars in Virgin Australia and Velocity Frequent Flyer prizes or have the chance to become a Velocity Points millionaire.”

Qantas also announced a similar program with prices comprising ‘1,000 [Qantas] points, flight vouchers, credits and 10 mega prizes ”.
