A ladies’ band bar raided in Kashimira

Less than a week after securing relaxations of restrictions imposed due to the pandemic, some bar owners have made a comeback with their same old notoriety of encouraging immoral and vulgar activity. This became evident after a police team raided a women’s and band bar in Kashimira late Wednesday night. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by API-Prashant Gangurde under the instructions of Senior Police Inspector-Sanjay Hazare, raided the Kashish Hotel in the Penkarpada area of Kashimira at around 11 p.m.

The police team rounded up 41 people, including operators, musicians, a cashier, waiters, bar girls and 30 customers for engaging in steamy dance shows under the guise of orchestral performances in direct. All were convicted under Article 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the ICC. However, as usual, the owners and sponsors of the establishment who are the real beneficiaries of the illicit trade managed to escape the police net and remained elusive until the last information.

“The owners and limited partners have been named as defendants in the FIR. They will take place soon. said a senior police officer. Cash amounting to more than Rs. 22,000 was seized during the raid. Further investigations were ongoing. The Kashimira Road Belt continues to retain its tag of watering holes and dens that have gained notoriety for their immoral and vulgar activities.
